Electro Bike Boston – Terms & Conditions of Lease

Welcome to Electro Bike Boston. By entering into a lease agreement with us, you acknowledge that you’ve read, understood, and agree to abide by the following Terms & Conditions (“Agreement”). This document outlines your rights and responsibilities as a lessee and our obligations as the service provider.

1. About the Lease

Electro Bike Boston (“we”, “our”, “us”) offers e-bikes for lease on a monthly/weekly basis to approved individuals or businesses. By entering into a lease, you (“you”, “lessee”, “rider”) agree to use the equipment responsibly, make timely payments, and return the bike and accessories in good condition.

2. Eligibility

To lease from Electro Bike Boston, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Possess a valid government-issued ID.
  • Provide accurate personal information and contact details.
  • Agree to a verification and approval process prior to delivery.
  • Accept full responsibility for the leased bike and accessories.

We reserve the right to decline or terminate any lease application at our discretion.

3. Lease Term and Renewals

  • Initial Term: Leases begin on the delivery or pickup date and continue on a WEEKLY / MONTHLY rolling basis.
  • Auto-Renewal: Your lease automatically renews unless you notify us of cancellation (see Section 10).
  • Minimum Term: A minimum lease period of 2 week apply.

4. Pricing and Payment

  • Fees: Your lease fee is one week $ (depending on bike), billed in advance.
  • Deposit: A refundable security deposit of $250 may be required before the lease begins.
  • Billing: Payment is due via [credit card / debit card ] and will be automatically charged on your billing date.
  • Late Payments: A late fee of one week bike rate may apply if payment is not received within 2 days of your billing date.
  • Failed Charges: If your payment method fails, we reserve the right to pause your lease and recover the bike until payment is resolved. The card on record may be charged with full market value of the bike and all accessories.

5. Delivery, Pickup & Returns

  • Delivery: We offer delivery within a 2 mile radius for a fee of $25, or you may pick up the bike from our location for free. 
  • Pickup: Bikes must be returned by 6 PM on your final day to avoid late fees.
  • Unreturned Bikes: A bike not returned within 2 days of lease end without contact may be considered stolen. Legal action may be pursued, and replacement charges up to charged with full market value of the bike and all accessories may apply.

6. Your Responsibilities as a Lessee

You agree to:

  • Lock the bike with the provided lock when unattended or parked.
  • Store the bike safely and protect it from extreme weather.
  • When the bike is unattended for more than 1 hour remove the battery and store safely, for security purposes.
  • Use the bike only for lawful purposes and on paved or marked bike paths/roads.
  • Refrain from tampering with or modifying the bike’s motor, frame, or components.
  • Keep the bike clean and notify us of any issues immediately.

You may not:

  • Sublease or allow others to ride the bike without written consent to ElectroBike Boston.
  • Use the bike for delivery or courier services unless approved.
  • Ride the bike under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  • Take the bike outside a 15 mile radius from the registered address without prior approval.

7. Maintenance and Repairs

  • Routine Care: We handle general wear-and-tear repairs at no cost to you. Contact us to schedule servicing.
  • Damage from Misuse: If the bike or accessories are damaged due to misuse, negligence, or unauthorized modifications, you may be liable for repair or replacement costs.
  • Flat Tires: We will cover 2 flat tire repairs per month. Please confirm in advance.
  • Battery Care: You are responsible for keeping the battery charged and stored correctly. Over-draining or water damage to the battery may result in additional charges.

8. Theft, Loss, and Accidents

  • Theft Reporting: In the event of theft, you must file a police report within 24 hours and provide us a copy.
  • Theft Deductible: If the bike was securely locked and still stolen, a deductible of $250 applies. If left unsecured, you are liable for the full value of the bike + accessories.
  • Loss or Damage: You are responsible for lost or damaged accessories, including helmets, locks, chargers, and mounts.
  • Accidents: Report any accidents or incidents involving injury, damage, or theft immediately. You are solely responsible for your safety and any third-party liability.

9. Accessories

Accessories included in your lease (helmet, lock, charger, etc.) must be returned in good condition. Loss or damage may result in the following charges:

  • Lock: $ 100
  • Charger: $ 200
  • Phone mount: $ 45

If you wish to add or swap accessories, contact our team. The first swap is free; subsequent swaps may incur a $10.

10. Lease Cancellation and Termination

  • Notice: You must provide at least 7 days’ written notice to cancel your lease.
  • Early Termination: If you cancel before completing the minimum term, an early termination fee of 1 week bike lease term may apply.
  • Final Charges: Your final invoice may include prorated fees or damage charges based on the bike’s condition upon return.
  • Termination by Us: We may terminate your lease at any time for breach of these Terms or if the bike is misused. You must return the bike immediately upon notice.

11. Insurance and Liability

Electro Bike Boston does not provide insurance coverage. You are strongly encouraged to consult your personal renter’s or homeowner’s insurance policy regarding coverage for leased bikes.

You acknowledge and accept:

  • You ride at your own risk.
  • You assume full responsibility for personal injury or property damage resulting from use.
  • You agree to indemnify Electro Bike Boston against any legal claims, injury, loss, or third-party damage caused during your lease.

12. Privacy and Data

By leasing a bike, you agree to our Privacy Policy. We may collect limited usage and location data for fleet management, safety, and customer support purposes.

We do not sell your personal information. Your data is handled securely and only used to operate and improve our services.

13. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you via email or website update. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
